Veedersburg – Mrs. Ella B. Smith, 63, wife of Porter Smith died in her home at 8 a.m. Saturday after suffering a series of strokes for three years. Born at Wheeling, W VA she had lived in Veedersburg 30 years and was a member of the Christian Church. She was married three times. Her first husband, Joseph L. Carey and second husband, James York are dead. Surviving with the husband are four sons: Wayne Carey and Floyd and Robert York, Veedersburg and Kenneth Smith at home; three stepsons, Eddie Smith, Covington, Joe Smith, Columbus and Dake York, St. Bernice; and four daughters, Mrs. Wallace Shell, Bloomington, Mrs. Lonnie Sams, Attica; Mrs. Pat Walton, Cates and Miss Florence Wandeline Smith, at home. – kbz
