Mrs. Edith Smith, age 88, a resident of Veedersburg for the past 37 years, mother of Mrs. Clydie Greenburg, Covington Rt. 3, died at 6:30 p. m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the home of her daughter, where she had been visiting for the past three days. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Smith was born on July 28, 1873, near Ladoga, the daughter of John and Salome Rettinger. She was a member of the Ladoga Church of the Brethern. In Veedersburg she attended the Sterling Christian Church. In 1900 she was married to William Smith who died in 1954. Survivors include: a son, Lloyd of Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. Salome Alexander, Mrs. Pauline Howard of Veedersburg and Mrs. Clydie Greenburg of Covington Rt. 3; a sister, Mrs. Rosa Rogers of Ladoga: several nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 25, at the Sterling Christian Church. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown with the Fishero Funeral Home in charge. - typed by Walt W.

Covington - Mrs. Edith Smith 88 died here early Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clydie Greenberg where she had been visiting.  Mrs. Smith ad suffered a cerebral hemorrhage three days ago.  A resident of Veedersburg 37 years she was born July 28, 1873 to John and Salome Rettinger. She was married to William Smith in 1900 who preceded her in death in 1954.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Ladoga Church of the Brethren and Veedersburg Sterling Christian Church. Survivors inclue a son Lloyd E. Smith, Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. Salome Alexander, Plainfield; Mrs. Pauline Howard, Veedersburg and Mrs. Clydie Greenberg, Rt 3, Covington; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Rosa Rogers, Ladoga and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Sterling Christian Church, Veedersburg with burial in the Masonic Cemetery in Waynetown.  Friends may call at Mrs. Smith's home in Veedersburg after 6 p.m. Saturday. - kbz
