Mrs. Dora May Smith, 81, lifelong resident of this community, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. Born Dec. 14, 1882, west of Newtown, she was the daughter of William and Mary Gardner McDonald. She was married Aug. 8, 1905, to Alva Smith, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Union Church west of Newtown. The survivors include a son, Wilbur Smith, of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Snelling of Attica and Mrs. Lena Floyd of near Veedersburg; two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with burial in Union Cemetery, west of Newtown. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday afternoon and evening.

Mrs. Dora May Smith, 81, Veedersburg Route 3, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in the Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville.  She was a lifetime resident of the Newtown area.
Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 14. 1882, near Newtown, the daughter of William and Nancy Gardner McDonald.  She was married Aug. 8, 1905 to Alva Smith who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Union Christian Church near Newtown.
Surviving are a son, Wilmer Smith, Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Snelling, Attica, and Mrs. Lena Floyd, Veedersburg
R. 3; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held at the , Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Sunday, with burial in the Union Cemetery.
