Funeral services for Charles E. Smith, 77, of the Newtown community, who died at an Indianapolis hospital Saturday morning were held from the family residence three miles west of Newtown Monday afternoon at 2:30.
Burial was in the Old Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Smith had been ill for several months. He was the son of John and Susan Moffett Smith and was born near Newtown on Nov 8, 1867. On Jan 3, 1889 he was married to Victoria Helms who survives . Other survivors are two sons, Oscar of Beech Grove and Jesse of Newtown; a daughter, Mrs. Lola Romine of Covington; 8 grandchildren; one great grandchild and two brothers, Eli Smith of Hillsboro and Grover Smith of Newtown.
