Rockville, Ind.—Charles Smith, 72, Rockville taxi driver, was killed Friday morning when his car was hit by a truck on U.S. Road 41, two miles north of here. Mr. Smith was driving to Marshall when, in what is believed to have been a skid on icy pavement, his car was thrown in front of a south bound truck driven by William Frohmader of Benton Harbor, Mich. Mr. Smith was thrown from his car and his head completely crushed according to Deputy Parke County Coroner Edna Branson who, with state police, conducted an investigation. Damage to the Smith car was limited to the back half. Mrs. Anna Moore, Rockville, a sister, is Mr. Smith’s only close survivor. He was a native of Kentucky, but lived in Marshall for many years before moving here at the time of his wife’s death about five years ago.
