Veedersburg - Bertha M. Smith, 78, Rt 4, Veedersburg died at 3:05 a.m. Monday in Lakeview Hospital at Danville, Ill. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong resident of Fountain County and member of Sterling Christian Church. Moose Lodge of Attica and JWG Birthday Club of Veedersburg. She was born May 6, 1901 at Veedersburg, a daughter of George and Cora McElwee Rogers. Survivors are a son, Carl William Dice, Rt 3, Veedersburg; two daughters, Dorothy Dice, Rt 4, Veedersburg and Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Hancock, Rt 3, Veedersburg; six grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, two sisters and a brother. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Dickerson Funeral Home at Veedersburg with the Rev. Richard Throckmorton officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.   -- typed by kbz
