Source: The obituary is from a collection of newspaper (paper names not recorded) obituaries saved, by Fauniel Hershberger, during the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Mrs. Anna Sargent Smith, age 89, a life resident of Veedersburg, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Pythian Home in Lafayette where she had been a patient two months. She had suffered a stroke last Thursday. Mrs. Smith was born April 25, 1877. She was married to Charles Smith, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Veedersburg Methodist Church. Surviving Mrs. Smith are: two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Fisher of Veedersburg and Mrs. Jessamine Borst of Hillsboro, and one son, Borden Smith. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg.   --typed by Walt W

VEEDERSBURG— Mrs. Anna Smith, 89, died at 9 p.m. Saturday in the Pythian Home at Lafayette, where she had been a patient during the last two months. She suffered a stroke last Thursday. Born at Chrisman, Ill., on April 25, 1877, she was a daughter of William and Louise Newlin Sargent. The family moved here when she was a child. She married Charley Wesley Smith, who preceded her in death. While in Veedersburg she attended the Methodist Church and was a member of its WSCS and of Dorcas Temple 122, Pythian Sisters, at Hillsboro. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Fisher of Veedersburg, and two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Parham Funeral Home, where friends may call. Rev. Edith Bruner will officiate, with interment in Rockfield Cemetery.   --typed by Walt W
