William SLUSSER a highly respected and well known citizen of Fountain County died at his home in Mellott Saturday morning about 7 having suffered a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Slusser is well known here, his son Charles having been engaged in business in the city for some time.

William D. SLUSSER, an aged resident of Richland Twp died on Saturday morning at his home west of Mellott. He was about 83 and a veteran of nearly 4 years service in the 20th Indiana had been a life long resident of that local and was one of its most respected citizen. He was well known in Attica, where he frequently visited and had many warm friends.

William D. SLUSSER died at his home west of Mellott Saturday night after a short illness incident to old age. He was born in Miami County Ohio Oct 11, 1834 and died March 4, 1916, aged 81years 4 months and 23 days. He came to Indiana when a young man and when the war broke out he joined Co D 20th Indian Volunteers and saw 3 years of service. He was married to Mary C. Meek Jan 18, 1877 and 3 children were born to them, Mrs. Almeada Leightly (sic) and Mrs. Lena Hayworth of near Mellott and Charles C. Slusser of Veedersburg. The wife died Oct 13, 1910 and he was married to Mrs. Mary Widener Aug 12, 1913 who survives. The funeral was conducted at the Union Church Monday afternoon by Rev. HL Bailey after which the remains were laid to rest in the old Baptist Cemetery west of Newtown.
