SLOAN, Ida Tunin

Ida E., daughter of Woodford and Mary Jane Walton Tunin, was born on Feb 1 1868, on a farm near Kingman in Fountain County, Indiana. She received her education in a country school two miles from her home, walking through the woods to get there. She was the oldest daughter in a large family so early in life she began her duties as her mother's helper in the home. At an early age she confessed her faith in God and attended the Pleasant Grove country church as long as she lived near Kingman. After moving to Alamo she became a member of the Methodist church and worshipped there as long as her health permitted. On March 29 1896, she was united in marriage to Oral Sloan and these two were privileged to spend a little more than fifty five years together. Three children, a daughter and two sons, were born to this union. She loved her family, her neighbors and friends and was happiest in doing some service or kindness for them. She was very patient through her long illness and when it became apparent she could not regain her health, she expressed her readiness to leave this life. She leaves as her survivors her husband, a daughter, Byrrl at home, two sons, Fred of near Wallace, Carl of Kingman, two grandchildren, Billy and Barbara Sloan, a brother Robert Tunin of Kingman, two sisters, Mrs. Annie Parnell of Douglas Wyoming and Mrs. Etta Musson of Bloomingdale and a number of nieces and nephews.

When one we loved is laid to rest. to say, "thy will, not mine be done,"
When life is o'er for some dear one. Yet as we journey on through life, and note the worry and the strife, We'll find sweet peace within our breast,
When we can say, "God knoweth best."

Alamo -- Funeral service for Mrs. Ida E. Sloan were held Sunday afternoon from the Alamo Christian Church. Rev. George Beatty officiated, assisted by Rev. Noble Carothers. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Byron Smiley and Mrs. Guy Hudson, with Mrs. Inez Luzader at the piano. The pallbearers were Harry Tunin, Laurel Tunin, Ralph Musson, Floyd Sloan, Benny Tunin and Jerry Runyan. Flowers were carried by Gladys Tunin, Bertha Tunin, Bessie Tunin, Fern Musson, Helen Hufman, Lucille Tunin, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Ola Perry, Mrs. Runyan, Mrs. Elmore, Mary Selby, Myrtle Stanford, Ruth Sloan, Hazel Bowerman, Merle Fruits, Ina Elmore, Fanny Elmore, Myrtle Luzader, Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Lincoln Lankford.
