Waynetown, Dec 27 - Ellis SLOAN, 68, died yesterday morning at 8 o'clock after an illness of six months of Bright's Disease on the same farm on which he was born, NE of Hillsboro. Mr. Sloan had long been active in the affairs of the county and was well known in Masonic circles, in which order he was active. Ellis Sloan was born Oct 30, 1853, son of Jefferson and Nancy Montgomery Sloan. He was married to Elmina P. Smalley Oct 1, 1877. Two children, a daughter and son were born to the union, the daughter dying in infancy, the son, Fred Sloan, resides at home. The deceased was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church, the Masonic Blue Lodge at Hillsboro, the Royal Arch Order of Covington and Crawfordsville Knights Templar, the Improved Order of Red Men at Mellott. He was actively affiliated with the Hillsboro Horse Thief Detective Association. Funeral services will be at the home Wednesday afternoon at 1 in charge of Rev. McGaughey of Veedersburg; Masonic order will have charge of the services at the Waynetown Cemetery.
