ATTICA, Ind. (CNS) –
Mrs. Helen Barbara Skiles, 45, of Attica Route 2, died at 1:30 p.m. yesterday
(March 3, 1969) at Home Hospital in Lafayette where she had been a patient one
week. She had been in ill health three years. Born May 17, 1923, at
Independence, Ind., she was a daughter of John W. and Anna Carrie Kuntz Allen.
She had lived in Independence and the Pine Village area before moving to the
Attica area in 1946 She was married to Clarence Van Dame on Nov. 21, 1946, in Oxford,
Ind. She was married to Loren Skiles on Sept. 16, 1965, in Williamsport, Ind.
He survives. Mrs. Skiles was a graduate of Pine Village High School. She was
employed at the RMC plant in Attica before retiring in 1967 because of ill
health. Mrs. Skiles was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the
Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 259 Auxiliary of
Williamsport. She was a member of the Attica Chapter 125, Order of Eastern
Star. She was a former member of the Locust Grove Methodist Church. Also
surviving are a son, Danny Lee Van Dame of Attica; a daughter, Marlena Ann Van
Dame of Attica, and three brothers, George Allen of Lafayette, Herschel Allen
of Attica, and Robert Allen of Oxford. She was preceded in death by her parents
and two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the DeSutter Funeral
Home in Attica. The Rev. Norman Able will officiate. Burial will be in the
Riverside Cemetery at Attica. Friends will be received at the funeral home
after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Eastern Star services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home. – jlr
