M. Douglas Six of RR 1, Covington, age 82, died Thursday afternoon, July 29, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born at Fontana, Kansas, April 11, 1900, the son of Schuyler and Georgia Noel Six. August 13, 1922, he married Gladys Cates, who survives. He was a member of Olive Branch Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of Danville and the Numismatic Society of America. Six was employed with the Danville post office for 34 years and was superintendent of mail for 16 years before retiring in 1957.
Also surviving are a daughter, Betty Cromer of Coal City, Illinois; a son, Jack E. of Point Pleasant, New Jersey; five sisters, Vina Gladden of Fairmount, Illinois, Grace Wilson of Baltimore, Maryland, Alta Stewart of Detroit, Michigan, Irene Briggs of Danville, Illinois and Virginia Six of Decatur, Illinois; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial was in Atherton Cemetery. – thanks to S
