LAFAYETTE — Jessie I. Sipes, 77, 625 Northchester Dr., Lafayette, died at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 26, 2000 at her residence. Death was unexpected. She was born Feb. 12, 1922 in Attica. She married Paul S. Sipes Sr. June 22, 1940 in Lafayette. He preceded in death July 28, 1992. She lived in Lafayette for the past 44 years coming from Attica. She was a member of the Women of the Moose #0023 and First Assembly of God. Survivors include: two sons, Homer L. Sipes, Otterbein and Thomas F. Sipes, Lafayette; four daughters, Rosemary "Penny" E. (Phil) Wright, West Lafayette, Nancy M. Little, Oxford, Jeri (Joseph) Redman, Lafayette, Penny E. Hafner, Lafayette; a step son, Paul S. Sipes, Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; a brother, Donald Rater, Attica; two sisters, Maxine (Lurane) Lister, Lafayette and Betty (Lewis) Wien, Lafayette; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, with Pastor Owen Mason officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. – jlr
