-- Logansport--James L. Simms, 44, of 1607 George St, Logansport, was dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital at 12:30 a.m. Friday. He had been a heavy equipment operator before becoming ill. Born March 20, 1932, in Newtown, he was a son of Freeman simms and Florence Mitchell. He was married to Gwendolyn Morgan Aug 8, 1952. He was a 1950 graduate of Wingate HS. He was a membr of the Logansport VFW, Logansport CB Club and at times had been chairman of the Easter Seal campaign. He also was a Korean War Veteran. Survivors are his wife; parents; a mother-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Crumley of Crawfordsville; two sons, Glenn and Ramo, at home; a daughter, Scherry Gallinger at home; and three brothers, hubert and Lee of West Point and Benny Paul of St. Petersburgh, Fla. He was preceded in death by a daughter. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home in Logansport. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Logansport. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m. Sunday and until the hour of service Monday.
