SIMMS, Florence Mitchell - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Wingate - Mrs. Florence May Simms, 78,  a former Wingate resident died early today in Logansport Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born in the Elmdale community, she attended Wingate HS and had lived in the Wingate and Newtown areas before moving to Logansport 25 years ago. She was employed at Logansport State Hospital before retiring in 1970.  She was married in 1921 to Freeman Simms, who survives. Mrs. Simms was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Logansport. Surviving with the husband, are three sons, Hubert Simms of Dayton, Ohio; Leo Simms of West Point and Benny Simms of St. Petersburg, Fla; two brothers, Stanley  Mitchell of WIngate and Harry Mitchell of Asheville, NC and one sister, Mrs. Lucinda Coon of Wingate.
