Mae C. Simmons, 93, of 2548 Robinwood Dr., Lafayette, died at 10:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 1994 in Home Hospital. She had seen in failing health the past five years. Mrs. Simmons wrote and recorded abstracts. She worked at Mitchell Abstract Co. for 31 years before she retired in 1966. Born May 2, 1900, in Fountain County, she grew up there and graduated from Attica High School in 1918. She came to Tippecanoe County in 1920. She married Paul Simmons on Dec. 19, 1924 in Lafayette. He died on Sept. 25, 1935. Mr. Simmons was a civil engineer in Lafayette. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Bethany White Shrine, and she had been a member of Hope Charter of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Several nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse, Archie and Hansel Carlson and a sister, Floy Carlson. Visitation was Monday at Landis-Loy Funeral Home. Service there at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Don Ashley officiating. Interment at Salem Cemetery. – jlr
