--John Simmons, 94, native of Fountain county, died at 9:50 a.m. Sunday May 4 1956, at Iroquois Hospital in Watseka, Ill.   He had been staying at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Glee Honn (Horn) at Brook, Ind.  He w as a retired farmer from the Cates community.

Mr. Simmons was born in Fountain County, Oct 1 1861, son of David and Sar ah Sowers Simmons.  In 1889, he married Elva Zackmire and she preceded him in death in 1908. Surviving are a son, Claude of Kingman Route 1; a daughter, Mrs. Honn (Horn) at Brook; two sisters, Mrs. Miranda Kiger of Kingman and Mrs. Ida Sowers of Bloomingdale; nine grandchildren; 11 great grand children. He was preceded in death by a son, brother and sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman, with the Rev. E. V. Wamsley of Veedersburg officiating.   Burial was in Zackmire Cemetery east of Kingman. – kbz
