SIMMONS, George W. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

George W. Simmons, eldest son of John and Lauvina Mayhew Simmons, was born April 19 1863, and departed this life on May 13 1939, at 4 p.m. He was married to Laura E. Palmer July 31 1887.  To this union was born one daughter, Ina, and one son, Herman of Veedersburg.  The daughter preceded him in death on May 10 1896. He with his companion united with the United Brethren church of Centennial many years ago, of which he remained a member until his death. The deceased was a friend to those who knew him, always displaying a cheerful disposition and giving good advice to those in truble, and sympathy to those in sorrow.   He was a true companion, a kind father and a good neighbor. He leaves to mourn his loss his companion, one son and one granddaughter, Lois simmons, and many other relatives and friends.
