David Simmons, a well known and highly respected citizen living four miles north of Cates, died Thursday of last week. Deceased was born Oct. 9 1837 and was 70 years, 10 months and 6 days old. He leaves a wife, two sons, Elmer and Henry and two daughters, Mrs. Alva Somers and Mrs. John Kiger and a host of friends to mourn his loss. He united with the New Light church at an early age and has lived a devoted member ever since. He was prepared to go when the summons came having chosen the text for the funeral also the minister. Funeral services conducted by Rev. A. L. Carney of Lebanon were held at Centennial Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at that place
