Attica – Chester Monroe (Roe) Simmons, 81, died of a heart attack at noon Wednesday while sitting in a chair on the porch of his home, 407 East Pike Street. He had been in failing health six months. Born in Van Buren Township, he was employed in the plant of Harrison Steel Castings Company before going to South Bend where he worked in the Studebaker Automobile Plant until his retirement seven years ago. He returned to Attica when he retired and lived with a brother, Charles, who died a year ago. There are no immediate survivors. – kz
