Ray Simmons, age 56, farmer residing south of Covington, died at 8 p.m.
Thursday at Lake View Hospital, Danville where he had been a patient since Jan
6. Mr. Simmons was born July 12, 1890, near Green's Corner (Grange
Corner) west of Covington, son of John and Elva Sackmire Simmons. Surviving are
his widow, Mrs. Elva Simmons; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Flora, Covington; a son,
Lewis of Hammond; his father, John Simmons of Cates; a brother, Claude of
Kingman Rt 1 and a sister, Mrs. Glee Horn, Brook. There is one
granddaughter. Not only Wabash Township , but all of Fountain County lost
a valuable citizen when Ray passed away. He was one of the most
considerable and accommodating men that this county ever had the pleasure of
calling a citizen. Ray was never too busy nor too tired to help a friend or
neighbor and was ever willing to lend any of his farming tools to anyone at any
time. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wabash Capek, SW of
Covington and interment was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery. --- kbz
