Rex Simeral, 61, Dade City, Florida, died at 1 p.m. Monday, October 17, at Pasco Medical Center in Dade City. He was a former resident of Covington.

  Born March 3, 1922 in Cumberland County, Illinois, he was the son of Martin Alva and Bonnie Mae Goodwin Simeral. On May 16, 1942, he married Garland Mescal O’Neal, who survives.

  He attended Covington School and moved from Covington to Dade City in 1979. He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded the Silver Star. A millwright with General Motors Central Foundry Division plant in Tilton, Illinois for 26 years, he retired October 1, 1975. He was a member of First Church of Christ of Covington and Fountain County Old Guard VFW Post 2395.
  Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Deanna Ingram of Bradenton, Florida, and Mrs. Ernest Grubb of Covington; two sons, Theodore Simeral of Dade City and Jeffrey Simeral of Sunnyside, Washington; a brother, George Simeral of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Alice Lutz of Danville; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, George Wayne, who died during World War II.

     Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Paul Kent officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today (Thursday). - thanks so very much to "S"
