Covington—Mrs. Ruth Delores Shuman, 55, of Covington, died unexpectedly at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, November 27, 1977 at her home. Fountain County Coroner Robert DeVerter attributed death to natural causes.
A resident of Covington since 1946, she had worked as a housekeeper for elderly persons.
Born May 29, 1922, in Danville, Ill., she was the daughter of Robert Elmer and Pearl May Woodworth Pratt. She was married to Milton D. Crippin. She was later married to William D. Shuman on December 26, 1975. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, David Lee Crippin of Tracy, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. David (Delores) Evans of Indianapolis; four stepsons, William Joseph Shuman of Frankfurt, Germany, Jerry W. Shuman of Covington Route 1, Tony L. Shuman and Bobby Gene Shuman, both of Covington; three step daughters, Mrs. Gayle (Judy) Gaylor, Mrs. David (Sharon) Lappin and Miss Debra Lynn Shuman, all of Covington; a brother, Earl Pratt of Alvin, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Cadle and Mrs. Hazel Hefferan, both of Danville, and Mrs. Dorothy Williams of Attica; six grandchildren, and 13 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.-s
