J.W.C. Shultz an old and highly respected citizen of Attica died November 18, 1902. He has been a suffer for a number of years which he had always borne with Christian resignation. Mr. Shultz was born at West Union, Ohio. March 18th, 1820, his parents being Peter and Elizabeth Shultz, who emigrated to Fountain county, Indiana, in 1826, settling about one half mile north of Newtown. He was married to Sarah Hatton Sept., 10, 1840 (?) To this union there were born four children, one dying in infancy. Those left to morn his loss are Mrs. Martha J. Beckley of Newtown, James Asbury Shultz and Mrs. Elizabeth James of Rossville, Ill. His wife died Oct 15, 1872. On March 6 1873, he was united in marriage with Miss Francis A Walden. After his last marriage they removed to Attica, where they have resided until the time of his death. During his residence at Newtown he was consistent member of the M. E. Church, but during his residence in Attica he did not unite with any church, ever looking forward with faith in Him who hath said "I am the resurrection and the life."
He was 82 years, 7 months and 29 days old at the time of his death. He was formally a member of the Masonic fraternity at Newtown.

Henry Shultz and wife, of Wingate, Ind. W.H. Macey and wife, of Towanda, Ill: George Coombs and wife of Springfield, Ill. Aaron Dazey and wife and Mrs. Jessie Jones and son Paul of Milford Ill.: Mrs. Jacob Dazey. Of Wellington, Ill T.M. Browning and wife of Lafayette, Ind: Frank Dazey, Mrs. Jas.
