NEWTOWN, Ind. (CNS) - Chalmer Shultz, 91, of Newtown, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday (May 18, 1971) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. He had been admitted two hours earlier and death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Shultz entered the Lane Nursing Home in Crawfordsville in late March. Born in Newtown June 16, 1877, he was the son of Thomas and Clara Grey Shultz. He married Evelyn Foster June 3, 1908. She died in 1966. He attended Indiana State Normal School (now Indiana State University) at Terre Haute and taught school in Richland Township for six years. He was a cashier at the Newtown Bank from 1908-1923 and then moved to Otterbein where he worked in a bank for five years. In 1928, he moved to Fort Collins, Colo., and then to Colorado Springs, Colo., spending 15 years at each place where he was associated with the Great Western Sugar Co. He retired in 1958 and returned to Newtown. He was a member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Ralph of Washington, D.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Gwendolyn VanDoren of Chadron, Neb., and Mrs. Barabar Daws of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are pending at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. -- jlr
