SHULER, Charles Manson

Charles Manson Shuler, son of David and Mary Smith Shuler was born in Fountain County August 6, 1861 and departed this life at his home in Wallace, Indiana on Saturday evening, July 12, 1941 at 11:20 p.m. Charles Shuler was one of the pioneers of Fountain County leaving us at the age of 79 years 11 months and 13 days. Although he had been in failing health for two years, he did not become seriously ill until two weeks ago when he suffered a paralytic stroke. During this time his family did everything in their power to subdue his suffering and pain, bringing back his health, but a Higher Power called him to his eternal home. On Dec 31, 1882, Charles Shuler was married to Maranda Leonard in Jackson Twp, Fountain County. To this union were born 5 children: Ada; Estin; Herschel; Glen and Ruby, all surviving their father, the mother having passed away 3 years ago. He was a member of the Freedom Christian Church. He took a keen interest in all the Wallace activities where he will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Besides his many friends and relatives, he leaves his devoted children: Ada Cory; Estin Shuler; Herschel Shuler; Glen Shuler and Ruby Sowers, all of Wallace; 9 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews ; and one brother, Albert Shuler of Marshall.
