Rev. J. C. Shrigley, retired minister of the Evangelical United Brethren church, died Thursday morning at Culver hospital here where he became a patient Wednesday. In failing health since 1946, Rev. Shrigley had been seriously ill for the past three weeks. He was 72 years of age. Born July 24, 1879, in Crawford county, Indiana, Rev. Shrigley was the son of J. W. Shrigley and Lydia Rothrock Shrigley. He was married Oct. 27, 1906 to Georgia McAdams. The widow survives, together with their daughter, Mrs. Gerald Jones, of Cates; one brother, Alva D. Shrigley, of Corydon, and three sisters, Mrs. John McCrady and Mrs. Straud Kurts, both of Corydon, and Mrs. Della Johnson, of Fort Wayne. Rev. Shrigley retired from the ministry in 1946, when his health failed. At the time of his retirement he was pastor of the Veedersburg E. U. B. church. Since his retirement he had resided in Kingman. The body will be at the Fishero Funeral home in Veedersburg, where friends may call. Brief services will be held Saturday morning at the funeral home at 9 o'clock. It will then be taken to Corydon for a brief service and burial at the Blue River Chapel cemetery. - transcribed by kbz

The Rev. J. C. Shrigley, age 72, who had been a resident of Kingman for the past four and a half years since retiring from the ministry in 1946, died at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, last Thursday, Feb. 14. He had been seriously ill for three weeks. The Rev. Shrigley was born July 22, 1879 in Crawford County, Ind., the son of J. W. and Lydia Rothrock Shrigley. He was married to Georgia McAdams at University Heights, Indianapolis in 1906 and she survives him. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gerald Jones, of Cates; a brother, Alva D., of Corydon, and three sisters, Mrs. John McCardy, Mrs. Strand Knits, both of Corydon, and Mrs. Della Jameson of Fort Wayne. The Rev. Shrigley was a graduate of the Indiana Central College at Indianapolis and began his ministry with the Church of the United Brethren in Christ now the Evangelical United Brethren, in 1912. He retired in 1946 after serving five years at the Veedersburg EUB Church. A brief funeral service was held Saturday morning at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg and the body was taken to Corydon, where another service was conducted. Burial was in the Blue River Cemetery near Corydon. --typed by Walt W
