SHORT, Wilbert

Wilbert Short, 79, a retired farmer of the vicinity northeast of Hillsboro, died of a  heart attack at 9 o’clock Saturday night at the country homme of his son Lawrence Short and family of near Hillsboro.  He had spent most of Saturday visiting in Mellott and remarked he felt unusually well.  He was born June 27, 1869, the son of David and Angeline Short, pioneer residents of that community.  He was married to Jane Warrick of near Mellott who died in 1912.  He was a member of the old Antioch Christian Church in which he held membership for a long period of years.  Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Marvin Lough of Mellott; and two sons, Lawrence at whose home he died and Walter Short, a teacher in the government school at Koahala, Hawaii. He also leaves a brother Am Short of Mellott, 8 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral service was held at the New Antioch Christian Church at Mellott Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Grover DeNeal of Covington  in charge. Burial in the Murray Cemetery.   --– transcribed by kbz
