SHORT, Reuben E.

Reuben E. Short, 77, resident of Mellott for many years,
died at 3 o'clock Friday morning at the home of his son, Clarence E.
Short in Attica He had been ill for a year. Born March 17, 1870, near
Mellott. He was the son of James and Amanda Kemp Short. He was
first married April 17, 1892, to Lottie V. Haas. Following her
death, he was married Feb 19, 1920 to Hattie Carman. She also preceded him in
death. Mr. Short was a member of the SOuth Christian Church in
Mellott. The survivors include the son, Clarence E. Short, at whose home
he died; a daughter, Mrs. Bertha E. Bantz of Mellott; a step daughter,
Mrs. Zana Ulrich of Mulberry; two brothers, Charles of Mellott and
George of Danville, Ill and three grandchildren. Funeral
services were held at the South Christian Church in Mellott Sunday afternoon at 2
o'clock with the body lying in state for an hour preceding the rites. ---
