SHORT, Mrs. Hattie M. Riester - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs Hattie M. Short, 72, died late Saturday night at Lake View Hospital, Danville, Ill  She had been seriously ill six weeks, suffering from carcinoma.

Mrs. Short was born near Mellott April 9, 1872, the daughter of Selestina and Christine Riester. She was married in 1899 to Joseph Carman who died a few years later and in February 1918, married Reuben H. Short, who survives.  She was a member of the North Congregational Christian Church of Mellott.  Survivors in addition to Mrs. Short, include: one daughter, Miss Jane Carman, Indianapolis; a step daughter, Mrs. Bertha Bantz, Mellott; stepson, Clarence Short, Attica; a brother, Joseph Riester, Mellott and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Rice, Mellott and mrs. Emma Jenkins, Indianapolis.  Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the North Congregational Christian Church at Mellott with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro.   --- transcribed by kbz
