Mellott - Mrs. Kate Short, 74 years old died Friday morning at 11 o'clock at her home in Mellott. She had been ill for the past six weeks with a heart ailment. Mrs. Short was born in March 1877 in the Old Union neighborhood in Fountain County. On Nov 28, 1896 she married Amy Jay Short, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the North Christian Church in Mellott. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Brown of RFD 3, Veedersburg and two grandchildren, Mrs. Lavera Lowe, RFD 3, Veedersburg and Donald Brown of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Grenard and Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Guy Walters of Mellott will be in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic cemetery. Mellott, Feb 8 – Mrs. Kate Short, 74, died shortly before noon today at her home. She was the widow of Amy J. Short who died several years ago. A daughter, Mrs. Floyd Brown, Veedersburg survives. Mrs. Short was a member of the North Christian Church. -kz
