Mrs. May Belle Shoemaker, 78, a resident of Mellott since 1938, died Thursday (April 8, 1971) at an out-of-town hospital. She had been, ill for several years. She was born May 7, 1892 in Oakland, Ill., the daughter of Robert and Hannah Franklin. She was married at Oakland on July 5, 1909 to Henry Shoemaker who died Oct. 21, 1966. She attended the Oakland Elementary School and was a former member of the Newtown Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include three sons, Harry W. of Frankfort, Max of Newtown and Charles of Bellville, Mich.; and two daughters, Mrs. Cletis Moore of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Erma Witmer of Lebanon. Private services were Sunday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. George Phelps officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. – jlr
