Henry R. Shoemaker, age 77, of Mellott, died Friday evening, Oct. 21, at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville, where he had been a patient one day. He had been in ill health one month. Mr. Shoemaker was born in Oakland, Ill., March 15, 1889, the son of Robert and Sarah Hessler Shoemaker. He was married July 6, 1909 to Mary Bell Franklin, who survives. He had lived in Mellott for 28 years. He was a retired section foreman on the Nickle Plate Railroad. He was a member of the Mellott United Church of Christ and of the Richland Masonic Lodge at Newtown. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: three sons, Harry William of Frankfort, Max P. of Newtown, Charles L. of Bellville, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Cleatis Moore of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. Erma Witmer of Lebanon; one brother, Roy of Gary; one sister, Clara Shoemaker of Oakland; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Charles Kraft officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. --typed by Walt W
