SHOAF, Solomon Arista - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Arista Shoaf, 86, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday Feb 6 1957, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Laurena Allen of Kingman rural route. He was born in Parke County, Ind., Sept 4 1870, son of William and Almena Sowers Shoaf and was married to Hanna Jane Dark April 27 1895. She preceded him in death June 11 1937. Mr. Shoaf was a retired railroader. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Opal Wakeland of Kingman, Mrs. Evalena Gritten and Mrs. Hazel Wakeland of Kingman rural route, Mrs. Emma Siegfried of Kingman, Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Elva Duchene of Danville; a son Frank of Kingman; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, a grandchild, two great-grandchildren, nine brothers and seven sisters. he was the youngest of 17 children. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today Friday) at the Woodrow Funeral Home with burial in Kingman cemetery.
