VEEDERSBURG — Lee Edward Shoaf, 81, 924 Mitchell St., Veedersburg, died at 1:07 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000 in Provena USMC Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. He was born Dec. 17, 1918 in Parke County, the son of William Thomas and Lillie May Sowers Shoaf. He married Margaret Kay Flint Dec. 17, 1972 in Hedrick Church of God. She survives. He was a resident of Veedersburg since 1972 and a former resident of Parke County. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Hedrick Church of God Abraham Faith and IOOF Lodge #5 in Lafayette. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a son, Charles William “Bill” (Carol) Shoaf, Boswell; a daughter, Gala (Denny) Reed, Covington; two brothers, Walter (Leatha) Shoaf, Kingman and David (Betty) Shoaf, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a sister, Betty (Gale) Cunningham, Rockville and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two step brothers. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Earl Poland officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of cremains in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington, at a later date. – jlr
