Kingman Ind -- Mrs. Laura Allen, 71 died yesterday, Jan 21, 1962 at her home on Kingman RR. She had been ill several months. Born July 26, 1890, near Yeddo she was the daughter of John and Lavina Simmons Woodrow. She was married to Omer Shoaf, who died. She was later married Sept 25, 1940 to George Allen who survives. Mrs. Allen was an active member of the Cates EUB Church. She had taught three generations of area families in her Sunday School class. SHe also was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge, Cates WSWS and Fulton Home Demonstration Club. Other survivors include 5 stepdaughters, Mrs. Juanita Keller of Kingman RR; Mrs Myrtle Martin of Indianapolis; Mrs. Ruth Moody of Kingman; Mrs. Eva Lientz of Danville and Mrs. Leota Hines of Judyville; 3 stepsons, Vernon of Cincinati, Ohio; Lewis of Rainesville and Deward of Kingman RR; 5 brothers, Charlie of Tangier; HA Allen (sic) and WS Allen (sic) both of Kingman RR; Fred of Covington RR and Dewey of Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Neol (sic) of Muncie and Mrs. Beulah of Crawfordsville; 25 step grandchildren and 10 step greats. She was preceded in death by a daughters, Mrs. Pauline Shephard in 1955 and a brother. Services will be at 1 p.m. CDT at the Cates EUB Church. The Rev. Marston Swango and the Rev. Lawrence West will officiate. Burial in Harveysburg Cem. near Kingman. The body is at the Woodrow Funeral Home. Friends will be received after 10 a.m. Tuesday. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services.
