SHOAF, Delia Sowers

Delia, daughter of David and Sarah Sowers, was born in NC May 31, 1828 died in Marshall at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sarah Fleischauer, Feb 23, 1917 aged 88 years 8 months and 22 days. In 1835, she with her parents moved to Fountain County, Indiana. In 1849 she was united to Philip Shoaf and to this union 9 children were born 5 daughters and 4 sons of which 5 survive: Mrs. Sarah Fleischauer, Mrs. Mary Beeson, Mrs Martha Fleischauer, Miss Rosella Shoaf and Perry Shoaf. She gave her heart to the savior when quite young and became a member of the Lutheran Church near Wallace Ind and remained a loyal and devoted member of that faith to her death. For many years her family wa sa happy one, then death came in the family and robbed them of a husband and father. Then with her unfaltering faith in God she went forward giving her love and tenderness to her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. To all of these and to her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. To all of them and to her church she gave the full measure of her life and in return for the love and sarifice she gained the utmost love of her family and the tender affection of all with whom she came in contact.
