ATTICA, Ind. – Mrs. Bessie McNett Shoaf, 74, of 314 West Stadium St., West Lafayette, died at her residence about noon Thursday (Dec. 5, 1968). She had been ill two years, but death was unexpected. She was born Nov. 4, 1894, the daughter of Jasper and Eliza Shroyer McNett on the old McNett farm in Warren County. She was a resident of Attica before moving to West Lafayette 18 years ago. She was married in 1920 to Paul O. Shoaf, who preceded her in death in 1938. He had been employed at Harrison Steel Castings Co. as core supervisor. Mrs. Shoaf was graduated from Attica High and Brown Business College in Danville. She had been a bookkeeper at Mudlavia for several years. Since living in West Lafayette, she had been employed at Ross Sanatorium and at Purdue Union Building. Mrs. Shoaf was a member of the Worthwhile Club of West Lafayette and the Cabalistic Club of Wallace. She was a former member of the Attica Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by a son, Edwin R. Shoaf of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Hetrick of Williamsport Route 1 and two grandchildren. Friends will be received at the De Sutter Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Sunday. Services will be in the De Sutter Chapel at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Harold Bachert officiating. – jlr
