Raymond Shirley, age 50, a former resident of Veedersburg, was found dead in his hotel room at Hammond, at noon, Saturday, Jan. 21. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Born April 6, 1910, at Rossville, Ill., he was the son of Frank and Bessie Woods Shirley. His family moved to Veedersburg while he was still a youngster. He was first married to Ruth Lullinger, and was later married to Lola Wilkinson. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Shirley was last employed as a garage mechanic at Hammond. Surviving are a son, Robert Shirley of Lafayette; five brothers, Harley of Hammond, Glenn of Louisville, Ky., Jewell of Cayuga, Lowell of Sarasota, Fla., and Floyd, address unknown; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Stonebraker of Veedersburg and Mrs. Buryl Templeton of Hillsboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 23, at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. The Rev. J. Samuel Pritchard officiated with burial in Cold Spring Cemetery, north of Veedersburg.   --typed by Walt W
