COVINGTON-- Lela B. Shelby, 73, a life resident of this community, died at 3:55 a.m. Monday in Lake View Hospital at Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient seven days. She had been in ill health five months. Born in Troy Township, Fountain County, June 11, 1889, she was a daughter of Benjamin W. and Flora Knapper Bilsland. She married Edgar Shelby in 1931. He died Dec. 30, 1947. Surviving are a brother, James Freeman Bilsland of Covington, and four nieces. Mrs. Shelby was a member of the Covington First Methodist Church, WSCS and Win One Class, of Troy Chapter 145 of OES, the Bend Social Club, Richard Henry Lee Chapter of DAR, Fountain County Chorus, Covington Home Demonstration Club and Business and Professional Women's Club. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church with Rev. Donald Ashley officiating and burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church an hour prior to the services. Friends may call at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home.   --typed by Walt W
