John W. Shelby of Fort Wayne, age 64, died January 4 in Parkview Hospital at Fort Wayne. He was born in Brigham City, Utah, September 24, 1917, the son of John and Clara Steffen Shelby. August 5, 1942, he married Florence Christoph, who survives.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was an underwriter for United States Fidelity and Guarantee Insurance Company in Indianapolis and was Indiana state manager for Empire Fire and Marine Insurance Company for 20 years before retiring last January.
Also surviving are a daughter, Susan Federspiel of Roanoke; a son, Stephen of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Frank Y. of Covington and David of Salt Lake City, Utah; six sisters and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Wayne with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery at Fort Wayne. – thanks to S&E
