Covington - Helen V. Shelby, 88, died at 8:06 p.m. Monday in Community Hospital in Williamsport. She had been a patient there for two days and in ill health for eight years. Mrs. Shelby worked in the Shelby Funeral Home in Covington from 1941 until 1946.  Born Jan 30, 1903, in Troy Township, Fountain County, she graduated from Covington HS in 1921. She attended McMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill.  She married Frank Y. Shelby on August 3, 1924 in Covington, and he survives.

Mrs. Shelby was a member of First United Methodist Church in Covington, a 70-year-member of Troy Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a 60-year member of Richard Henry Lee Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, belonged to Alpha Gamma Association Chapter of Tri-Kappa and was a former member of Coington Women's Club.  

Also surviving are three sons, Richard V. Shelby of Sebastian, Fla; Robert B. Shelby of Covington and Donald R. Shelby of San Angelo, Texas and three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Virginia) Bennett of Rt 4, Veedersburg, Mrs. Richard (Emma Lou) Davis of Rt. 1, Covington and Mary Elizabeth Hoagland of Lafayette.
