-- Lee K. Shanks, 61, former Crawfordsville and Waynetown resident died suddenly while attending a church meeting Monday night (April 19) at Washington, DC. From May 1933 to November 1935, Shanks was a manager of the local office of the Legal Loan Company, predecessor of the Local Finance Corp. Prior to that time, he had been employed as a bookeeper for the Shimer-Light Automobile Co. Shanks also taught school for a time, including one year at Alamo. While in Crawfordsville, he served as president of the Lions Club one year. After leaving here, Shanks was employed by a government agency at St. Louis and later at Chicago before moving to Washington where he had since been engaged in government work. Shanks lived in Waynetown before coming to Crawfordsville. He was the son of Frank E and Anna Elizabeth Hayes Shanks. He was married many years ago to Ina Livengood. They have a daughter, Annalee Shanks. Shanks attended Wabash College 1 1/2 years as a member of the class of 1925. Other survivors include a brother, Joseph C. Shanks of Waynetown. The funeral services will be held Thursday at Washington. The brother, Joseph will fly to the capital for the rites, accompanied by Mrs. Beulah Williamson, a friend of the family.-- kbz
