Mrs. Carrie Shafer, 82, house mother at the Lake View Memorial nurses residence for 37 years before retiring two years ago, died early today (April 4, 1969) in the Heritage Nursing Home in Indianapolis where she had been a patient one year. She had lived in Indianapolis since retiring. Mrs. Shafer was born Feb. 9, 1887, in Lexington, Ky. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Fred Laird of Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Hoover of Elwood, Ind.; one grandchild; two great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband. The body is at the Dorsey Funeral Home at 3925 N. New York, Indianapolis, where friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rockfield Cemetery at Veedersburg, Ind. --typed by Walt W
