Lafayette—H. Ray Shadowens, 64, 4907 N. County Road 500 E. near Buck Creek, died at 4:08 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 1989 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He had been in ill health three months.
  He was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Sumner County, Tenn. He was raised in Sumner County and moved to this area 40 years ago. He was married June 8, 1949 in Williamsport to Margaret McIntosh, who survives.
  He was a self-employed finish carpenter. He was a member, lay leader and past trustee of Buck Creek United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Men’s Club of the church and was a past Sunday school superintendent and teacher. For many years, he was a member of Buck Creek Volunteer Fire Department.
  Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Kevin D., Lafayette, and David W., at home; one brother, Hazel B., Middletown; three stepbrothers, Richard Chaney, Casa Grand, Ariz., and Charles Chaney, Hoopeston, Ill.; three grandchildren and one step grandchild. He was preceded in death by one sister and two stepbrothers.
  Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today in Hippensteel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. R. Clayton Kendall officiating. Burial will be in North Union Cemetery near Buck Creek. – thanks to S
