SHADE, Stella Corbin

Mrs. Stella Corbin Shade, 49, of Mellott, died at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. She had been seriously ill for the past year.  Funeral services were held last Wednesday at the Mellott Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Ivan Gwaltney officiating.  The Fishero Funeral Home, Veedersburg, was in charge of the burial made in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Mrs. Shade was born June 17, 1898 near Brook, Indiana, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Corbin. She was married Dec 20, 1925 to Homer W. Shade, Mellott.  She was a member of the Mellott Congregational Christian Church, and served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary unit at Veedersburg several years.  Surviving are her husband and three sons, John Shade with the Navy at sea and Lee and Jay at home; three brothers, Bruce Corbin, Liters Ford, Indiana; Arthur in Louisiana and Alvin in Illinois; and one half brother, Wayne Corbin in New Mexico.

Mellott, Nov 9 – Mrs. Homer W (Corbin) Shade, 49, died today at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville where she had been a patient for one week. She had been in failing health for two years. In 1925 she was married to Homer W. Shade who survives. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church here and had served as President for the American Legion Auxiliary at Veedersburg for several years. Surviving with the husband are three sons, Lee and Jay at home, John in the Navy at present serving at sea and three brothers and one half-brother.
