John W. Shade, an aged citizen residing at Crawfordsville, died Monday evening at 5:3 o'clock. Mr. Shade had been in poor health for a year. A week ago he suffered a paralytic stroke and continued to decline until claimed by death. Deceased was born July 4, 1840 near Hillsboro being the son of John and Mary Gebhart Shade. He was first married to Elizabeth Briggs who died 15 years ago. After her death he moved from Hillsboro to Crawfordsville and was married to Mrs. Susan Sampson. No children were born to either union. Mr. Shade is survived by his widow and one brother, Madison of Hillsboro.
