Hillsboro - Garfield Shade, 92, a retired Hillsboro farmer died today in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He was a member of Hilsboro United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of K of P. He attended Old Germany School near Hillsboro and Hillsboro School. He was born May 13, 1881, near Hillsboro to Lafayette and Eliza Wheeler Shade. He married Mary M. Shade March 4, 1905. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mabel M. Shade and son, Ernest D. Shade both of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. Funeral services will be 2 p.m .Wednesday in Crumley-William Funeral Home here with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 pm. Tuesday.- kbz

Hillsboro, Ind.—Garfield Shade, 92, of Hillsboro, died at 12:35 a.m. today (April 29, 1974) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. He had been a patient a month.

  Born May 13, 1881, near Hillsboro, he was the son of Lafayette and Eliza Wheeler Shade. On March 4, 1905 he married Mary M. Gray who died in September 1911.

  He resided all his life on the farm where he was born until 1969 when he moved into Hillsboro. A retired farmer, he attended Old German and Hillsboro schools.   He was a member of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of the Knight of Pythias Lodge.  Survivors include a daughter, Miss Mabel Shade of Hillsboro; a son, Ernest C. of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.    Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
