Florence Shade, 70 of Hillsboro died at Culver Hospital at 12:30 p. m. Thursday of a blood clot. She had been there two weeks, the result of a broken hip suffered at Veedersburg. she was born Aug 26, 1894, south of Hillsboro to Charles and Emma Myer Wood. She married Sherman Shade of Hillsboro Jan 24, 1917 in Hillsboro. Mrs. Shade was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church and a graduate of Hillsboro HS. She was a Past Matron of Fern Chapter 194, OES, treasurer of the FOuntain County Home Demonstration Club Chorus, treasurer of WSCS and a member of the Hillsboro Harmony Club. Surviving are her husband; a son, Charles Shade of Hillsboro; three brothers, Henry Wood of Waynetown; Gerald Wood of Warsaw; Marvin Wood of Plymouth and a granddaughter. Services will be at 2:30 p. . m. Saturday at Hillsboro Methodist Church. The body will lie in state for one hour preceding the service Rev. Arthur Schenck will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Crumley Funeral Home Friday afternoon and evening.

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Shade, was held at the Hillsboro Methodist Church at 2:30 Saturday afternoon with the local pastor Rev. Arthur Schenck officiating. Organ music was by Mrs. Mildred Cooper and the pall bearers, who assisted with the flowers were: Richard Wood, Robert Grenard, Richard Grenard, Donald Grenard, Maurice Wood, Max Jeffrey, Robert Booher and William Wilson. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro with Crumley Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Shade age 70, died unexpectedly at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville about 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, of a blood clot. Mrs. Shade entered the hospital two weeks before with a broken hip, due to a fall in Veedersburg.
She was the daughter of Charles and Emma Myer Wood, born south of Hillsboro Aug. 26, 1894. She was married to Sherman Shade of Hillsboro Jan. 24, 1917 in the Hillsboro Methodist Church parsonage who survives.
Also surviving are a son Charles of Hillsboro; three brothers, Henry Wood, of Waynetown, Gerald Wood of Warsaw and Marvin Wood, of Plymouth and a granddaughter Miss Janie Shade of Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by a sister Virgie Grenard and a brother Forrest Wood.
Mrs. Shade was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church, treasurer of the WSCS of the church; was a past matron of Fern Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of OES and a graduate of the Hillsboro High School.
Treasurer of the Fountain County Home Demonstration Chorus, the Hillsboro Harmony Club.
