St. JOHN, Mabel Chapman - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

West Lebanon – Mrs. Mabel St. John, age 68 of Rossville, Ill mother of Mrs. Betty Spann of West Lebanon died at her home Thursday Aug 17.  She was born Sept 26, 1898 at Rankin, Ill, the daughter of William and Minnie Symonds Chapman. She married Clark Lewis and in 1933 married Willard St. John who preceded her in death. She had lived in Hoopeston, Ill most of her life and had moved to Rossville about eight months ago.  She was a member of the Hoopeston First Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge of which she was a Past Noble Grand. Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Spann of West Lebanon; three stepsons, Louis St. John of South Bend, Warren St. John of Demott and Paul Lewis of Danville, Ill; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Phillips of Hoopeston and Mrs. Pearl Thompson of Decatur, Ill; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wood Funeral Home in Hoopeston. The Rev. Leland Walls officiated and burial in Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston. – kbz
